CLIL
CLIL, or Content and Language Integrated Learning, is a popular methodology in schools across Europe, where teachers teach their subjects through the medium of English. Increasing numbers of subject teachers are now faced with the challenge of improving their English, while English teachers are required to brush up on their subject knowledge. We take you through the key concepts linked to this methodology, including lesson planning, resources, and assessment. This module also gives you an opportunity to demonstrate your skills in designing and presenting a short lesson using the methodology and techniques learnt.
-
Innovative Teaching
This combined module is perfect for teachers who are looking for ways of incorporating new methodology in their lessons. Flipped classrooms methodology is one which is becoming more popular due to the opportunities it creates for communication in the classroom. In this part of the module, we show you the practical applications of this methodology and look at recent research in this field.
The North West Academy are proud to use iPads in the classroom, and are dedicated to finding innovative ways to incorporate these into our lessons without losing any of the communicative aspect we are known for. In this part of the module, we will discuss the ways in which iPads can be effectively used in the ELT classroom, and our experiences trialling different apps. We believe in the importance of creating an interactive environment where modern technology mingles with tried and tested techniques, and are eager to share this with others. -
