Course Overview

This course gives students an insight into the economic, cultural and historical situation in Northern Ireland.
The course focuses on the city of Derry, also known as Londonderry, and the influences of Britain and Ireland. This is an interesting and informative course and includes a variety of topics of interest to visitors to the city.

Course Aims

• Learn about the cultural, political and historical influences on the city
• Develop a deeper understanding of British and Irish culture
• Expand vocabulary
• Develop English language skills
• Improve listening skills

Course Content

The Irish history course includes a variety of topics that will allow students to develop their knowledge and understanding of British and Irish culture. The course also includes field trips to historical and cultural attractions within the city.

Topics include:

History, political influences, music, arts, literature, culture and economic developments

Times of Classes: 9:30-12:30 OR 2:00-5:00

Non-Teaching Dates: The North-West Academy is open for the majority of public holidays. We will always endeavour to accommodate groups, whatever the time of year, and any loss of teaching hours will be compensated. Minimum Enrolment Age: 16+
